Jaipur (Rajasthan), also popularly known as the Pink City, is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. During the British rule in India, Jaipur was the capital of the princely state of Jaipur. Founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber. Jaipur is the first planned city of India, located in the semi-desert lands of Rajasthan.
The city which once had been the capital of the royalty now is the capital city of Rajasthan. The very structure of Jaipur resembles the taste of the Rajputs and the Royal families. The Palace quarter encloses a sprawling palace complex, (Hawa Mahal), formal gardens, and a small lake. Nahargarh Fort, which was the residence of the King Sawai Jai Singh II, crowns the hill in the northwest corner of the old city. The observatory, Jantar Mantar, is one of the World Heritage Sites.

Hawa Mahal, built in 1799 by Sawai Pratap Singh, was designed by Lalchand Usta. It is a five-storey structure that has more than 950 windows. The latticework was built for allowing women to watch everyday life of the city. Hawa Mahal is situated near the Johari Bazaar and provides a beautiful view of the entire Pink City.
The Jal mahal which is situated in the right middle of a small lake was supposed to be the hunting place for all Rajputs and this place is only visible from the banks of a lake which is man made . other places to look at include Laxmi Narayan Temple, Govind Devji Temple, Albert Hall, B M Birla Planetarium etc. .
Amber Fort and Shitla Mata temple situated in the north of Jaipur built by Maharaja Man Singh which gives you a perfect picture of Rajput architecture which overlooks a lake that reflects several terraces and the pavilions. Amber is famous for its spectacular Sheesh mahal, Jai mandir, Diwan-i-Am, Sikh Niwas and the Kali temple. .
